“A man without a goal is like a ship without a rudder.”

Thomas Carlyle

I believe that this is true because a person without a goal means they don’t know what they want in life. And if they don’t know what they want then they don’t know what to do to achieve something. And a ship without a rudder is a ship with now destination it wouldn’t know where to go or where to stop.

If there is beauty in character, there will be harmony in the home. If there is harmony in the home, there will be order in the nation. If there is order in the nation, there will be peace in the world.
Conclusion:
If there is beauty in character, there will be peace in the world.
Chinese Proverb

I believe that this is right because everything depends on the way a person is for example there isn’t going to be happiness in a home if everyone is constantly arguing and if that home is constantly arguing it can cause disturbance with neighbors and if they don’t get along its affecting the whole community and the nation. Its like a chain reaction and to keep everything going steady you need to have a good and beautiful character.

The Six Pillars Of Character

The Six Pillars Of Character
The Six Pillars Of Character consist of the following:
·       Trustworthiness
·       Respect
·       Responsibility
·       Fairness
·       Caring
·       Citizenship
Trustworthiness means being honest, having integrity, keeping your promises and being loyal.
 Some examples of this are:
·       Be honest
 • Don’t deceive, cheat, or steal
 • Be reliable — do what you say you’ll do
 • Have the courage to do the right thing
• Build a good reputation
• Be loyal — stand by your family, friends, and country
Respect means a feeling of deep admiration for someone or something elicited by their abilities, qualities, or achievements.
Some examples of this are:
• Be tolerant and accepting of differences
 • Use good manners, not bad language
• Be considerate of the feelings of others
• Don’t threaten, hit or hurt anyone
• Deal peacefully with anger, insults, and disagreements
Responsibility means the state or fact of having a duty to deal with something or of having control over someone.
Some examples of this are:
• Persevere: keep on trying!
• Always do your best
• Use self-control
• Be self-disciplined
 • Think before you act — consider the consequences
 • Be accountable for your words, actions, and attitudes
Fairness means doing the right thing even if others don't agree
·       Play by the rules
• Take turns and share
• Be open-minded; listen to others
• Don’t take advantage of others
• Don’t blame others carelessly
• Treat all people fairly
Caring means to be concerned for others interest and to be considerate of others.
Some examples of this are:
·       Be kind
• Be compassionate and show you care
• Express gratitude
• Forgive others
• Help people in need
Citizenship means being involved in public services.
Some examples of this are:
• Cooperate
• Get involved in community affairs
• Stay informed; vote
• Be a good neighbor
• Obey laws and rules
• Respect authority
 • Protect the environment
• Volunteer
I believe that the six pillars of character are very helpful in life to keep everything in balance and some happiness.

“I would prefer even to fail with honor than win by cheating.”

Sophocles

I agree with this quote I believe that it’s better to lose with your head held high and you knowing you did the right thing by not cheating than to live the rest of your life knowing you did won cheating.

Memorial Day

Memorial Day

Memorial Day is a federal holiday celebrated on the last Monday of May in the United States for remembering the people who died while serving in the country's armed forces. Before this holiday was known as the Decoration Day and originated after the American Civil War to commemorate the Union and Confederate soldiers who died in the war. On Memorial Day, the flag of the United States is raised briskly to the top of the staff and then solemnly lowered to its half-staff position where it stays until noon. It is then raised to full-staff for the remainder of the day. The half-staff position remembers the more than one million men and women who gave their lives in service of their country. At noon, their memory is raised by the living, who resolve not to let their sacrifice be in vain, but to rise up in their stead and continue the fight for liberty and justice for all.

Dan Dierdorf

I agree with this because if you aim to the right thing and if you work for them with your best everything else will end up the way you planned it.

“The most important thing you will ever have is good values.”

Dennis Prager

I disagree with this because in my opinion I believe to me it just isn’t maybe to Mr. Prager it was but to me I mean we are two different people and to me is seems as if isn’t maybe one day when I know more about life struggles I can agree.
After i watched the video I got what he meant a little and it did make me rethink about me disagreeing and I believe that if I'm completely understand what he meant then I might agree

“The reward for doing right is mostly an internal phenomenon: Self-respect, dignity (self-worth), integrity, and self-esteem.”

Dr. Laura Schlessinger

I believe this quote is right because when you do something and you complete it you should be doing it for yourself not for anybody else but yourself and by completing this you will get the rewards that the Dr. said.

“Dare To Stand Alone.”

Thomas S. Monson

I believe that this quote could help to encourage many wrongly influenced people to do the right thing for themselves and the community. For example I believe that if people really could be encouraged by this they will get the courage to stand alone then there would be a huge difference in the number of people who get influenced to do something wrong.

Forgiveness

Forgiveness

The video started with a man named Eric Smallridge who was committed under DUI manslaughter when he killed 2 girls Megan and Lisa both the age of 20. He was sentenced 22 years in prison however Megan’s Mother Renee asked the judge to cut the sentence in half to 11 years all because she forgave him and she is now happy because she doesn’t live with hate or anger.

Today Eric and Renee go around high schools talking to kids about their story and using it as an example so kids wont make the same mistake.

“When a deep injury is done us, we never recover until we forgive.”

Alan Paton
I believe this quote is right 100% and I agree with it 100% because the way my parents raised me taught me that you can’t hold resentment on people it’s not right you have to forgive in order to forget. For example if someone did something bad to me like if someone lied to me and it cause many people who I love to be affected I know I have to forgive them I can’t hate them because then I won’t be able to live with myself  which will ruin my happiness.
